Aboyne's Steve Garrett reflects on his own experience as an Earth scientist in the early 1980's and as a tourist in 2024. We will look at photographs before and after: the heroic age of exploration, the Falklands Conflict, polar hut restoration, digital technology, the development of mass tourism, and climate change. Steve will also introduce the recent increase in creative activity inspired by Antarctic landscape and science, including some of his own painting and music.
